HERCULES

We adopted Jem (formerly Hercules) as a puppy August 2018. What a handsome little puppy shown on his first day with us. Here he is one year later - a big, happy boy! , Thank you for rescuing Jem, his litter-mates and his mom. Jem was lucky Tri-State found him and we were lucky we found Jem!

HAZEL

When Marabelle (formerly Hazel) is not attached to her mom's hip, she is following around and annoying her new best friend Gabby. She is really great and a snuggle bug for sure.

HARLEY & COLBY

Favorite things about your Basset (i.e., goofy grin, silly bark/howl, counter-surfer):
Happy Disposition, loving nature, mournful howl, intelligence

Challenges you faced and overcame:
They did not seem to be housebroken (on their web page it indicated that they were) and did not understand basic commands, know their names or have the ability to walk on leashes together. The first few weeks were difficult. I hired a trainer, installed back yard fence, as well as hired someone to help me with daily care. Given Harley’s size (90 lbs) and issues with joints, it was difficult for me to lift a 90 lb dog to assist her with the steps. She has since lost some weight and seems to be able to handle steps better.

How do other people and animals react to your Basset?
They are the neighborhood stars. All of the neighbors know them and find them amusing and loving. Harley and Colby love to lie in the front yard in the evening while I sit with them, so they can greet and interact with people who are walking down the sidewalk. They are very social guys and love other dogs in the neighborhood.

What do you like to do with your Basset?
Short walks in the evening, sitting in the yard so they can get their social interaction they love, belly rubs, cuddles and kisses nightly before bedtime. Love to spoil them with affection and attention. They have settled in and are very happy.

HENRY
HENRY

What a wonderful breed. He is soooo loving. He loves our other adopted dog. They play and bite each other-so funny. Oh, then there is an adopted cat. He loves the cat but she puts him in his place. He had a few hisses and a few swats!! But they both sleep on the couch all day-couch potatoes. He is still a bit scared but so much better. He only barks at my husband!! We are so happy to have this beautiful and loving puppy! Wish i could have more!! Thanks for recommending him to us. We love him more and more every day!

HENRY
HENRY

We adopted Henry in December 2013 and rescuing him was honestly one of the best decisions we've ever made. After Luciano our 17 year old beagle passed away we weren't entirely sure that we wanted another dog since we were so heart broken over his death. However, we began to look into basset hounds and Henry immediately caught our attention. After adopting him, he was pretty shy and quiet. However, the longer we had him, the more he began to open up to us. He is really a friendly and loving dog. If you're laying down on the couch, he'll go up to snuggle with you. He even gives you kisses and purrs when you scratch his belly. Also, whenever we have family gatherings, he is the life of the party and lights up the whole room with his spunky personality. I can't imagine a more loving dog. Thanks Tri-Basset for allowing us to adopt him! :) -Ragone family ,
