MOWGLI "WINSTON"

Winston, now Samson, is a total love and even though he is so big, he will climb on top of you to give hugs, kisses and to snuggle. We have another Basset (Delilah) who we adopted through TSBHR in 10/2012.  She is 11 yrs old now and isn’t thrilled about having a bouncing, bubbly dog invading her space.  But they are getting along just fine now and he knows to leave her alone. Everyone adores him.  You can’t help but laugh and smile when interacting with him.  He gets along fine with other dogs as well. We are huge Basset Hound lovers and couldn’t imagine life without Samson and Delilah.

MICKEY

Cayce (formerly Mickey) is so lovable, easy-going and affectionate. Everyone he meets just loves him and tells us how we "Lucked out" by finding him. He is a loving and happy spirit that has given us so much joy, especially my son who so missed our girl basset who died last August. Thank you to everyone who helped us find this easy-going, devoted and affectionate angel to come share our home.

MAZIE

Favorite things about your Basset (i.e., goofy grin, silly bark/howl, counter-surfer):
Daisy (renamed from Mazie) is a very sweet girl with expressive eyes. She loves to snuggle and be near her people. She of course also loves snacks and does what looks like a tap dance whenever a treat is nearby.

Challenges you faced and overcame:
Daisy was afraid of a lot of things when she first arrived, including dog toys which she is beginning to warm up to, especially kongs filled with peanut butter. She is not always sure how to interact when meeting new dogs, but this is getting better too. She gets along well with our other dog, Q, and she loves playing with my parent’s Australian shepherd.

How do other people and animals react to your Basset?
Daisy loves meeting new people, and most people seem eager to meet her as well. We’ve actually had cars stop driving just to comment on what a beautiful dog she is.

What do you like to do with your Basset?
Daisy is a great snuggler, but she also loves going on walks which is great since my husband and I enjoy hiking. We recently took her on a camping/hiking trip to Shenandoah, and she seemed to have a great time.

MERINGUE

Blondie (formerly Meringue) is an absolute joy. She is calm, mello, super adorable, has soft velvet ears, and loves to chase butterflies.  My favorite thing to do with her is to snuggle! She love balls, but cannot have tennis or baseballs, as she destroys them! She also loves her Nylabones.

She was only 12 weeks old when I adopted her - it's fun to watch her grow, and being a "mix", what she will become. She certainly has the "hound" nose and is always sniffing out something.

MARLEE

Just short of one year...Rosebud's first Christmas...she is so settled and happy. 3 dogs, 4 cats, 10-yr and 13-yr old and all is good!!!! Houseful of rescue (except for our great kids!)
