We are so very excited for our first annual Basset Hound Racing fundraiser at Parx Racing on Saturday, August 31. Here is some information to make the most out of the event!
DETAILS FOR THE BASSET HOUND RACING EVENT:
- When: Saturday, August 31, 2019
- Where: Parx Racing | 3001 Street Road Bensalem, PA 19020
- Time: Horseracing and FREE family fun from Parx begins at 1:00 p.m. TSBHR will be set up and start our activities at 3:00 p.m. Basset races begin at 5:00 p.m.
- Parking: Plenty of FREE parking lots; there is a designated lot for the PICNIC GROVE.
- Entrance: Enter through the PICNIC GROVE area.
- Cost: Free to enter park & PICNIC GROVE
- What to Bring: Parx allows outside food and beverages (except for alcohol), so feel free to bring your own stuff! Also bring your own blankets and chairs (there are picnic tables, but we are expecting a large crowd).
- Family Fun Activities from TSBHR: We will have new merchandise for sale, a raffle table to win prizes, doggy kissing booth (meet adoptable dogs!), a “make your own Basset ears” station, Basset Olympic equipment for the racers to “warm up” and a photo booth
- Family Fun Activities from Parx: Parx will have live horseracing, food and beverage vendors (BBQ, ice cream, adult beverages, etc.), live music, pony rides, face painting, moon bounce, airbrush tattoos, etc.

This unfortunately includes the cancellation of the Doo Dah Parade and therefore Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue's Board Waddle events are also canceled. Currently, we do not know if Ocean City plans to reschedule, but we will be speaking with our contacts from the city this week to find out more details.
We are absolutely heartbroken over this situation and honestly we are very concerned about what the rest of the year is going to look like for the rescue. The BoardWaddle is TSBHR's biggest fundraiser annually. We raise thousands of dollars over those 2-days in Ocean City and it literally sets us up to save 300+ Bassets and Basset mixes each year.
The dogs we save are local from the tri-state area, from various southern states and even from China! Without the thousands in donations coming from the BoardWaddle, we inevitably will have to stop our intake of hounds in need.
The board is working on a back up plan to try and come up with alternative fundraising efforts. We will keep everyone posted on these details. In the meantime, please consider donating to TSBHR or purchasing a BoardWaddle t-shirt so that we can continue our mission to save the lives of Bassets and Basset mixes.

Basset Hound Olympics

Join us for an afternoon filled with fun and games!
- No admission fee! Plenty of parking!

- Events: 10-meter sprint, 15-meter hurdles, high jump (set to 6" to start) and obstacle course
- Basset Hounds and Basset Hound Mixes welcome to compete!

THIS EVENT IS RAIN OR SHINE! That's right folks...we are back at Parx Racing in Bensalem, PA for another Basset Hound Racing Fundraiser where YOUR hounds get to race on the horse track! For a $25 donation your purebred Basset Hound or Basset Hound-Mix can participate.

- When: Saturday, June 11, 2022
- Where: Parx Racing | 3001 Street Road Bensalem, PA 19020

Event Timeline:
- 11:00 a.m. - Gates to the PICNIC GROVE open
- 12:00 p.m. - Registration for competing dogs begins
- 12:05 p.m. - Horse Races begin
- 12:30 p.m. - Family-friendly activities* begin (food options, vendors with merch for sale, raffle baskets, etc.)
- 1:00 p.m. - Competing dogs must check in at the registration table by this time
- 2:00 p.m. - Dog races start (the dog races will be in between the horse races; exact heat times will be shared with competitors a few days advance of the event)
- 3:30 p.m. - Derby Hat Contest**
- 3:45 p.m. - Raffle Prize Drawing
- 4:30 p.m. - Dog races end
- 6:00 p.m. - Horse races end
- Parking: Plenty of FREE parking lots; there is a designated lot for the PICNIC GROVE.
- Entrance: Enter through the PICNIC GROVE area.
- Cost: Free to enter the park and watch the event. It is a $25 donation if you want your hound to compete (and you get a great 'swag bag' with lots of goodies!)
- What to Bring: Parx allows outside food and beverages (except for alcohol), so feel free to bring your own stuff! Also bring your own blankets and chairs (there are picnic tables, but we are expecting a large crowd). Note: Parx will search bags prior to allowing admission into the Picnic Grove.
- *Family Fun Activities: TSBHR will have new merchandise for sale, a raffle table to win prizes, doggy kissing booth and a “make your own Basset ears” station. There will also be food and merch vendors, including: BBQ food options from Parx, Saint Rocco's Treats, Bully Bows, The Dog Bone Guy and Philadelphia Animal Specialty & Emergency (PASE).

It's time to submit your dog's photo for the 2023 TSBHR Calendar!
Yes, we are already working on the TSBHR 2023 wall calendar, featuring photos of YOUR adorable Basset Hounds and Basset Hound mixes! Last year the calendar month and cover spots sold out quickly, so submit yours NOW!
All calendar month picture slots are SOLD OUT!
How do I get my dog's picture on the cover? Just 1 cover spot remaining!
- There are (4) spots available for the cover (all are equal size)
- Each spot cover is a $200 donation.
- Click the DONATE button on the top, right hand part of this page to make your $200 donation.
- This donation secures a spot for your dog on one of the calendar month pages as well.

When/where will the 2023 TSBHR calendars be available for purchase?

TREE OF LIGHTS 2022
Our annual Tree of Lights fundraiser is live! For just a $10 donation, you can light a red or white light on our virtual tree.
Red Light = In honor of a pet or person
White Light = In memory of a pet or person
The fundraiser will run from November 25th to December 9th (at 5:00pm, est). How does this fundraiser work?
- Use the payment link to select a red or white light and enter the name of the pet or person.
- Email a photo and the name of the pet or person you are honoring/remembering to julia@tristatebassets.org.
- NOTE: If you are sending multiple photos, please make sure they are labeled with the correct name of the pet or person.
- As the submissions come in, they will be added to the daily postings on our social media (Facebook and Instagram).
- Your photos will be included in a daily social media posting.
- On December 9th, all photos will be added to the Tree of Lights 2022 slideshow. The slideshow will be be emailed to all participants and will be shared on our social media and website.
- BONUS! For each $10 donation you make, you will be entered into a drawing to win one of two Tree of Lights raffle prizes (Pioneer Woman 'Merry Christmas' LED Hanging Sign and Pioneer Woman 'Happy Holidays' Round Hanging Sign)
