BODHI
BODHI

We adopted Bodhi in 2012, he was 5 years old, he was our cuddle fur ball, enjoying long walks in the city where he had many admirors. He also enjoyed being in the Adirondacks with us, wintering in front of the fireplace. He passed in May of 2021 after owning our hearts.

BUBBLES
BUBBLES

It's been 2 months since we were blessed and honored to adopt Bubbles. He is doing great and is so much fun to have around. Medically he is fine. He enjoys his daily walks with his brother Columbo who was also adopted from Tri-State nearly 3 years ago. Having lost 2 senior Bassets a few months ago to old age and getting Bubbles shortly thereafter has really given new life to Columbo as he is more active playing with Bubbles and the two have really bonded well together. Bubbles is a blast and has us laughing at his antics all the time. Like most Bassets he enjoys his numerous toys and is constantly running through the house bringing all his toys from the play room to the back yard. He loves to patrol the back yard keeping us safe from the squirrels and a groundhog living next door and when really excited he runs around the yard really fast getting Columbo aggravated as he can't keep up with him and then loves to dig in his hole and as most Bassets especially enjoys his naps, meals and makes himself comfortable wherever he wants. He is truly a delight and awesome Basset and most importantly loved so much. I can't express enough to you how in awe we are of him and grateful to care for him. I sometimes sit and stare at him in disbelief that he is mine. Thank you and see ya soon at the BassetFest. Love from BUBBLES!!!!!!

BEN

We adopted Louie about 2 years ago, and we immediately fell in love with his "basset-tude." We knew he wanted a brother because he would stalk any hounds he found to try to get them to play. And when we added Ben to our family this summer, it was a perfect fit! Ben is a senior boy, but he acts far from it. He is constantly running and jumping around! He is also such a sweet boy who loves belly rubs and treats. He's just what our family needed. The pictures are from Louie's annual birthday celebration. We welcomed Ben to our home with his own "Welcome Home Ben" cake from a local dog bakery.

BERTIE

Bertie has a cute whine/bark combo, she LOVES to chase the rabbits off of our
property(aka “Sheriff Bertie”),and bunny hops when she plays with her toys. She loves to cuddle and is so appreciative of everything. She listens very well, never tries to steal food and has wonderful manners.
Bertie loves to take long walks in the neighborhood and see all her new friends. She celebrated her 6th birthday with us and had a doggie peanut butter cake that she shared with her sister Sadie and doggie friends in the neighborhood.
We are all so happy to have her in our family. She is wonderful company for our older basset, Sadie.

BELLA II

Favorite things about your Basset (i.e., goofy grin, silly bark/howl, counter-surfer):
Bella is the most lovable pup on the planet. She is the first to greet you at the door with a wagging tail.  She treats her toys as if they are her own pups, very gentle and kind. Bella loves to snuggle and have her belly rubbed. When you start to scratch her, she sometimes falls right to the ground! Bella has big feet, which seem to get into her way sometimes. She is quite clumsy! We feel so lucky to have adopted her and she is the perfect piece to our family.

Challenges you faced and overcame:
One of the great things about Bella that has also been a challenge is her fierce protectiveness. Although she is incredibly loving to those living in our home, she has a hard time warming up to new people. Bella frequently growls and barks at new guests in our home, especially men. Despite the fact that she does calm down, she has a tendency to growl very close to new guests when they stand up or make sudden movements. To work on that, we have been bringing Bella outside to meet our guests. It eases the transition and makes her a little less territorial. We are also use positive praise when she is being nice to ensure she knows how much we like it when she is welcoming! With continued practice and a new enrollment to dog school, we anticipate a wonderful host!

How do other people and animals react to your Basset?
Everyone who meets Bella immediately thinks she is adorable! Once she warms up to them, they fall in love with her. Bella has not had too many interactions with other animals thus far.  We want to allow her to get comfortable in her new environment first!

What do you like to do with your Basset?
Bella loves to go on walks. We go frequently throughout the neighborhood. She also LOVES the car. Whether it’s an hour ride or five minutes, she is trying to leave the house with us to get into the car
